Using turkey tail mushroom:

Hard herbs like roots and mushrooms are not as simple as pouring hot water over them and making a tea!
Why?
Many of their beneficial qualities are are buried too deeply to be reached this way.
So how are they liberated so we can consume them?
A decoction!
A decoction simply means simmering the herb for a period of time of ten minutes or more.
In this case, one tablespoon of mushroom per two cups of water. Bring to a boil and immediately set to a low simmer. Simmer for twenty minutes to one hour, adding water if necessary to keep the pot from boiling down. You may be able to resimmer the same mushrooms a second time.
